As part of our carbon initiative and while setting up the site with no mains electricity, we needed a high-quality, monitored CCTV tower that did not require a generator as these systems use diesel and create unwanted noise for local residents. VIS Eco Tower is solar-powered and has been on site since week one of the scheme. The unit is rapidly deployable and can easily be moved around the site if required for plant and security monitoring. We can access the HD cameras remotely and feel it is an immensely sustainable and cost-effective solution for both initial setup and end of project handover. Once we have the main cabins in situ and electricity is live, VIS will then implement stage 2 of the plan, remove the tower and install our site-wide CCTV.

For sites where a turnstile is not appropriate, this system provides a good solution to monitor operatives and personnel entering and leaving site, it provides the monthly data as per turnstile system and is very user friendly.

The software is intuitive, and provides simple viewable reports, and the roll call feature allows quick and easy access for fire drills. To help with our logistics and delivery monitoring we needed an online and intuitive software where we could book and manage deliveries to site. The Project was high profile for our fit-out division in a challenging environment. VIS provided us with a user-friendly solution that linked in with their site access and workforce management software.

Once we were setup, we could easily send links to contractors to book their deliveries in and it worked seamlessly giving us visibility of bookings and providing key carbon reports for our KPI’s.

Implementing a single, standardised system for online inductions has delivered major benefits across our operations. It’s significantly reduced time for site teams and the H&S department, while ensuring a consistent and professional health & safety message through video inductions. The enhanced security features, including the turnstile system, have made unauthorised site access far more difficult. Collecting and managing personnel data is now much more efficient. From a commercial standpoint, the system supports us in tenders, offering more than competitors. Overall, the professional presentation of our sites has improved, and the card checker is a significant upgrade from our previous process.

VIS turnstile system is robust. It uses face recognition and works all the time. I have used other face & finger recognition systems that suffer from wrong light on subject and issues with fingerprints.

Entering the workforce onto the system is easy which all WD staff can do, and it picks up individuals which have previously been added on other projects.

That’s important as many inductions can cause delays in the morning and the system ultimately makes our lives easier.

This is I would say the most important aspect of using VIS. The arming of the system is easy to do by a keypad and in the event of an intrusion a guard is dispatched almost immediately to site. We don’t have to get involved with separate security companies and subsequent key holders.

VIS set the camera system up so that the guard would be notified via the camera system and likewise the monitoring station new when the guard was carrying out patrols. This worked well as both guard and cameras worked together.

Your cameras mounted to the cradles whilst we have been replacing all transoms and mullions to the curtain walling to the Spine building have been brilliant for the monitoring of the installation and the QA documentation. We have used VIS for quite some years now so much so that I cannot really remember the performance, quality and add-ons of the previous companies. What I am impressed with though is how VIS have identified new products that have hit the market and offered them to ensure we are leading the way in camera technology and have the benefits of sharper images, remove units and cableless cameras. In particular, the remote multi-camera units have allowed us to have CCTV that is monitored remotely from day one on site. Without these, it would usually take a number of weeks to get a series of cameras setup and running on site.
