The Project

The Mayfield development is one of Manchester’s most ambitious regeneration projects, transforming a former brownfield site beside Piccadilly train station into a vibrant mixed-use development.

Led by developer Landsec the development, part of a wider £1.4bn scheme, will deliver nearly 900 new homes, shops, cafés, restaurants, a health and wellbeing club, and community spaces alongside two major commercial buildings. The first of these, The Republic, is a 233,000 sq ft office designed by Morris & Co and built by Bowmer & Kirkland.

A second office, The Poulton, will follow with an additional 95,000 sq ft of Grade A workspace, alongside a new cycle hub and public realm improvements.

Our Role Within This Project

After understanding the scale of the project, VIS Systems was appointed to secure the Mayfield construction site during the delivery of the Republic office building.

Working alongside Bowmer & Kirkland, our role was to design and install a security system that is capable of adapting to multi-phase development plans.

Our integrated package included:

• Solar-powered CCTV towers
• Wireless camera coverage across evolving work zones
• Crane-mounted cameras for elevated visibility of high-risk areas
• 24/7 AI-driven monitoring from our in-house centre

This full-scale solution ensured safety, compliance, and operational continuity across a huge city-centre development with significant ESG and social value goals.
