Located in central London, the LSHTM “Social Spaces” project transformed 1,168 m² of existing campus into modern communal facilities, including a state-of-the-art industrial kitchen, a refectory, a refurbished bar, updated social areas, and the striking “Big Step” space.
Our Role in the Project
The London School of Hygiene & Tropical Medicine is a distinguished institution and the Social Spaces transformation demanded both sensitivity to heritage architecture and all important operational oversight.
Thus, we at VIS Systems were brought in to deliver a time-lapse and site monitoring system that would track progress and enable stakeholders to visualise work phases remotely at any time.
We installed multiple weatherproof cameras, all positioned to capture strategic views of the site as it progressed.
These were configured to record at scheduled intervals, generating time-lapse sequences that document construction stages.
The system also provided live feeds for real-time monitoring, giving T&B and their partners continual visibility.
Because the project site is located within London’s central districts, access and infrastructure limitations meant our solutions had to be scalable, which is something we pride our services in.
We ensured connectivity, power management, and camera placement without disrupting operations or campus life.
