As part of a significant education investment in Greater Manchester, Tilbury Douglas is delivering a new facility, Laurus Grace, an extension of Hazel Grove High School in Stockport.
The project forms part of the Department for Education’s ongoing efforts to futureproof the UK’s school estate and invest in long-term learning infrastructure for local communities.
Our Role Within This Project
At VIS Systems, we are proud to be supporting the delivery of the Laurus Grace development with an integrated site security solution.
As a specialist in construction site safety, our role involves safeguarding the perimeter, protecting people and materials, and ensuring the ongoing monitoring of the site day and night.
Working closely with Tilbury Douglas, we designed a proactive site-wide security system to respond to the demands of a school construction project.
This includes a combination of construction site CCTV, 24/7 remote surveillance, and our proprietary Badger Monitoring solution designed to minimise risk and support compliance throughout the build programme.
How We’re Helping Deliver a Safe and Secure School Site
With Hazel Grove High School continuing to operate alongside the construction of Laurus Grace, maintaining a safe and non-disruptive site was essential from day one.
Our team installed high-definition CCTV across key access points and active working zones, providing live coverage of all activity.
Each unit is equipped with Smart AI features to detect and escalate any unauthorised movements, ensuring the protection of staff, students, and contractors at all times.
All footage is relayed to our in-house remote monitoring control room, where trained operatives assess alerts and respond in real-time.
This real-time responsiveness plays a key role in deterring intrusion, vandalism, and safety breaches, all the while allowing site managers to focus on progressing the build without unnecessary interruptions.
To add another layer of control, we’ve deployed our Badger Monitoring system across the project.
Designed to monitor high-risk zones, the Badger system supports visual checks, activity logging, and regular site reporting. This technology is particularly valuable for a sensitive live environment such as a school, helping ensure safety procedures are followed at every stage.
Our solution remains flexible and scalable, allowing us to respond to changes on site as the project progresses. We’re continuing to support Tilbury Douglas by adapting system coverage in line with new build phases, ongoing deliveries, and changes in site layout.
